Janet Lloyd
CEO

Janet is a knowledgeable leader. As our enthusiast in chief, she has a passion for customer service and quality construction. Janet formerly led International Customer Sales and Service for the B.F. Goodrich Corporation, a Standard and Poor's 500 listed company.


Her responsibilities include establishing a clear vision and direction for the company, leading long-term strategic planning and growth. Janet is heavily involved in value engineering and constructability efforts from preconstruction to project completion. She carries with her the values of hard work, authenticity, and community outreach and impact.


Janet has a wealth of experience in guiding significant, collaborative projects of varying scopes and sizes. She is committed to creative solutions, excellence in project execution and client satisfaction. She directs the company’s overall strategy, vision, and operations.

April Norwood Smith
President

April’s superpower is inspiring and empowering team members through guidance, training, and development. She is passionate about building lasting relationships, the industry and the lives of every employee.


April grew Norwood Logging into a multimillion-dollar operation. April oversees budgets and resource allocation: She ensures effective allocation of financial resources, managing budgets, and making key financial decisions.


April coordinates administrative operations, scheduling, and communication, and office support functions. She keeps everything running smoothly, and manages compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.


April stewards Abtak as a well-controlled, yet flexible organization with strong fiscal oversight. She is responsible for arranging and structuring project financing. April ensures timely and cost-effective delivery while maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability throughout project lifecycles.


April directs and administers the application of safety and occupational health laws, standards, and regulations. She oversees employee training on safety protocols and procedures, building a culture of safety while organizing goals and targets of responsible growth.

Larry “Bo” Smith
VP of Operations

Bo guides and directs our workforce. He’s involved in planning, executing, and completing all aspects of projects.

We count on Bo to make sure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with the

quality and standards of the deliverables.


Bo has owned construction businesses specializing in several trades. He responsibly leads scheduling, budgeting, and communication for projects so that they do not deviate from the right path. He coordinates tasks so that everyone is knowledgeable and that projects flow smoothly.


He manages with regard to safety, efficiency, and conformance to the plan of the project on a daily basis. Bo keeps labor and material smoothly running on the jobsite, organizing employees and subcontractors.

Robert Mihaly, JD
VP of Contract Management

Robert organizes contract management from bidding, to planning, execution, and completion. Robert arranges, negotiates, and administers contracts, subcontractor agreements, and purchase orders. He directs compliance with all terms and conditions


Robert brings a wealth of experience in general commercial, legal, and business issues on a regional, national, and international level. His responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts. Robert provides careful consideration of safety, insurance, liability, and environmental matters on each project.


He has a passion for both traditional construction methods and cutting edge tools. He has been heavily involved in 3d scanning, modeling, and fabrication technologies for over 25 years. Robert funded sponsored research in improving 3D-scanning technology at the University of Kentucky Center for Visualization & Virtual Environments.


Robert advises on the procurement of resources and materials. He has been bonded for importing construction materials and equipment internationally. Robert brings a deep understanding of design criteria, contracts, applicable codes and regulations.


Robert maintains incredible relationships with clients. He relishes challenging projects. Robert has personally managed clients including the State of North Carolina, Bank of America, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the United States Post Office, cities, counties, the University of North Carolina system, and others.

Amos Cooper
Senior Lead Estimator

Amos is responsible for calculating construction cost estimates. He is involved in the development, negotiation, and contract execution of our projects. He has extensive experience creating complex and accurate bids in the construction field, with a deep knowledge of best industry practices and standards.


He manages pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions, specifications analysis, accurate time and cost estimates, and submittal of bids. Amos is incredibly accurate and organized, managing multiple projects simultaneously. He prepares estimates used by management planning, organizing, and scheduling work


Amos seemingly effortlessly balances cost effectiveness of construction strategies, products, and services. He carefully tracks actual costs relative to bids as projects develop.


As projects are executed, Amos confers with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.


Accordingly, Amos offers Abtak a fair, conscientious, and meticulous approach to budgeting our projects. Amos provides leadership by sharing knowledge and skill to others through example and patient mentoring.

Chloe Mihaly
Chief Technology Officer

Chloe oversees all aspects of the company’s technological processes and strategies.


Chloe led development of our proprietary Abtak Connect app, through which we track all aspects of projects from inception to completion. Abtak Connect allows both Abtak and the client to monitor project progress in real time. Abtak Connect offers instant access to GPS-enabled employee and equipment tracking, projected timeline, photos, task management, and daily progress reports. Abtak Connect offers clients complete transparency on progress and methods, including field-reported, time-stamped snapshots throughout the day, weather and safety reports summaries with photos and notes.


Chloe’s innovation leadership in implementation of this technology offers our clients and other stakeholders information access, oversight, and peace of mind that is unique in the industry. Chloe’s inspirational leadership and creative technological skills promote efficient compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


Chloe’s facility with various programming languages, including Python, Java, Javascript, C, and C++, combined with her agile, creative mind helps keep Abtak on the cutting edge of emerging technologies and industry trends.
